Dues come from ASHP's 2026 membership application. For a practicing pharmacist the book-plus-membership route costs $748 in the first year. The same money buys more than seven years of the $99.99 app, which carries content licensed from the same 2026 print edition. The book is worth that premium if you want the membership for its other benefits or need a desk copy a whole department can share.
ASHP notes that 20% of 2026 dues is not deductible as a business expense because of its lobbying activity. The rest, and the book itself, is usually a deductible professional expense for a self-employed pharmacist. Ask your accountant, not us.
What happened to AHFS Clinical Drug Information online
For years the answer to "how do I get AHFS online" was AHFS Clinical Drug Information, ASHP's own web app at ahfscdi.com, sold to individuals for $84 a year to members and $108 to non-members. That product is no longer what you will find. In September 2026 ahfscdi.com redirects to an ASHP page written for print subscribers, the old product page on ahfsdruginformation.com redirects to a page of electronic-only monographs, and the AHFS CDI iPhone app listing returns a 404 in the US App Store.
An ASHP FAQ page with the old $84 and $108 prices is still online. It is out of date. Its store link fails, so do not budget on those numbers.
What replaced it is a set of partner channels. On 1 July 2026 ASHP and McGraw Hill announced that AHFS DI and AHFS DI Essentials are included with AccessPharmacy and AccessMedicine subscriptions, which most US pharmacy and medical schools already hold, plus an Access Pharmacy ASHP Collection add-on. Pharmaceutical Press hosts the full database on MedicinesComplete for institutions, and FDB sells AHFS monographs as a module inside its MedKnowledge drug database for EHRs.
For an individual clinician with no school or hospital access, that leaves two direct options: the licensed app at $99.99 a year, or AHFS content inside a PEPID plan.
Is there an AHFS Drug Information app, and is it worth $99.99?
Yes. The AHFS Drug Information app in the US App Store is published by Skyscape Medpresso under license from ASHP, and its description says the content is licensed from the printed ISBN 9781585287772, which is the 2026 edition. It is a free download with one in-app purchase: a yearly auto-renewing subscription at $99.99. The listing also shows limited-period offers at $74.99, $79.99 and $84.99. It holds 4.3 stars from 16 ratings, so the review base is thin.
For one person the app is the cheapest current way to read the full AHFS DI text. It is a reference, though, not a checker. It will tell you everything the monograph says about a drug. It will not look at the other ten drugs on a patient's list.
Renewal is standard Apple billing: it renews each year unless you turn it off at least 24 hours before the term ends.
AHFS through PEPID: Essentials alone or Pharmacist Pro
PEPID sells two products with AHFS content. AHFS DI Essentials by PEPID is $22.91 a month billed yearly, which is $274.92 for the year, and carries the condensed Essentials monographs. Pharmacist Pro with AHFS is $254.95 for one year, $459.90 for two and $639.85 for three, and adds PEPID's drug interaction checker, IV compatibility and calculators.
The odd result is that the bundle costs less in year one than the standalone plan. Check both at checkout. PEPID states that all its sales are final, so use the two week free trial, which gives full content, before you pay. Our PEPID cost page lists every PEPID suite and its renewal terms.
Does Lexicomp include AHFS Drug Information?
AHFS DI is one of the content sets in the Lexidrug library (Lexicomp's current name), next to Lexi-Drugs, Briggs' pregnancy data and the geriatric and dental databases. That is why many hospital pharmacists already read AHFS monographs without ever buying AHFS. A personal Lexidrug package at $29.99 a month licenses a defined subset of that library, so whether AHFS is in yours depends on the package. Where a compendium stops and a prescription check starts
AHFS DI is the reference you open when you need the evaluated evidence behind a drug: off-label uses, the place in therapy, the references. It is one of the compendia CMS recognizes for off-label anticancer use, which is why formulary and oncology pharmacists keep it. What no monograph does is read the patient in front of you.

You want a working drug database, not just AHFS: PEPID Pharmacist Pro
At $254.95 a year it bundles AHFS content with an interaction checker, IV compatibility and calculators. It costs less in year one than PEPID's standalone Essentials plan at $274.92. Sales are final, so trial it first.
You are a student or resident: check your member access first
ASHP lists complimentary online access to AHFS DI on MedicinesComplete for student and resident members, and resident dues are $94. Your school or hospital library may also carry it. Paying $99.99 for the app should be the last step, not the first.

Hospitals often see AHFS text through Lexidrug, through an FDB-powered EHR module or through MedicinesComplete. One question to your pharmacy informatics team can take the price to zero.
Price membership into the book
The store sells the book to members. A pharmacist who is not a member pays $375 in dues plus $373, which is $748, more than seven years of the app. Only buy the book this way if you want the membership anyway.
Do not buy anything that still says AHFS CDI
The old AHFS Clinical Drug Information web app now redirects, and its iPhone app is gone from the US App Store. If a reseller or an old FAQ quotes $84 or $108 a year for it, that product is not what you will get.
Turn off auto-renew if you buy annually on purpose
The $99.99 app renews each year unless you switch it off at least 24 hours before the term ends, in your Apple ID subscription settings. PEPID plans renew too, and PEPID gives no refunds.
